'Cloverfield 2' Not Entirely A Sequel? Plot Hints Of Darker Film
A follow-up of the 2008 hit science-fiction horror movie "Cloverfield" is finally hitting the big screens, as confirmed by the surprise trailer release for "Cloverfield 2: 10 Cloverfield Lane" last Jan. 15.
Adding up to the growing excitement of the fans was the plot spoiler suggesting that "Cloverfield 2: 10 Cloverfield Lane" will be darker than the first one.
While fans are anticipating a continuation of the cliffhanger scene in the last chapter, rumors suggest that "Cloverfield 2" may not exactly be a sequel. Apparently, the events in the first film might not be tackled in part two, and the plot may shift to tell a whole different story.
"Some have speculated that Abrams could be creating an anthology series that will operate under the 'Cloverfield' name, but with the films in the series not being specifically connected to one another beyond that and their genre bent," as noted by IGN.
As to how the idea of pulling off another "Cloverfield 2," film director JJ Abrams shared about the plot being conceptualized for years, but it was only recently when they felt it came closed to be worthy of being made.
"The idea came up a long time ago during production," said the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director, as quoted in Collider.
"We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible."
While there is a big possibility that "Cloverfield 2: 10 Cloverfield Lane" is not entirely a sequel story of the first one, the rumors have not been confirmed yet. Fans continue to look for clues as to how the plot will shift its story from the first to the second.
"Cloverfield 2: 10 Cloverfield Lane" will be out in cinemas in March this year.
