Is Hideo Kojima's Team Up With Sony A Plot Against Konami?
Hideo Kojima is certainly one of the most respected names in the gaming industry.
And his recent exit from studio giant, Konami, made abuzz last year.
After a series of speculations and controversies, the highly-acclaimed game creator and director recently announced that he is teaming up with Sony.
While Sony has become part of Kojima's previous games like "Metal Gear," others are speculating that this tie-up could have possibly been brought about by Kojima's alleged rift with Konami.
Sony announces the new partnership in this YouTube video below:
According to IGN, Hideo Kojima, who was supposed to launch "Silent Hills" with Konami, is now planning a new PS4 exclusive game with Sony.
"I will be taking on a new challenge by establishing my own independent studio, and I am thrilled to be able to embark on this journey with PlayStation, who I have continued to work with all these past years," Kojima revealed in a statement that was reportedly released by Sony as posted on The Verge. "I cannot wait to deliver, with PlayStation, a game that will become a compelling franchise."
And to finally move forward, Kojima took to Twitter to announce that his contract with Konami has already been terminated since Dec. 15, 2015.
"My employment contract with Konami has been terminated as of Dec 15th, so today marks a new start for me," he tweeted. "I'm committed to be involved in creative activities for as long as I live."
Following his exit from Konami, the gaming director's company, Kojima Productions, is now reportedly hiring people to help them with their new games.
"The studio will begin focusing its efforts in developing products that will push the boundaries in innovation and ignite consumer interest worldwide."
