Facebook Reactions Offer Wider Variety Of Emotions; Release Happening In ‘Few Weeks’
Social networking giant Facebook recently announced that it is only weeks away from launching a new feature called Reactions. The official release date of the new offering was not stated but the Menlo Park-based company said that it should be within the next "few weeks."
Facebook made that announcement following the release of its annual report, which revealed the company's massive growth. The company claimed it has around 1.6 billion users and 1.4 billion of those are using its mobile version.
According to Wired, Facebook revealed that it has 934 million daily users on average. In terms of earnings, the social networking giant revealed that it had earned $18 billion in revenue for 2015.
With the release of the upcoming Facebook Reactions, users to may use emoticons like Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry on every Likes that they make. For the desktop version of social networking site, the feature will automatically appear once users will hover over the Like button.
For the app's mobile version, users need to tap and hold on the Like button for the feature to appear.
The Reactions set of emojis were unveiled back in October 2015. The feature only saw limited roll-out in selected territories.
But the Yay emoji was removed in the new version of Reactions as the company claimed that it was not "universally understood."
"This was feature that was right in the heart of the way you use Facebook, so it needed to be executed really well in order to not detract and clutter up the experience," Facebook chief product officer Chris Cox said per Bloomberg.
Some tech analysts believe that with the impending Facebook Reactions release, users will finally have a broader way to express their emotions on a specific feed or post. There are also speculations that the introduction of Reaction is Facebook's way of integrating a "dislike" button, a feature that has been long requested by users.
