After David Bowie's death: Lady Gaga to give a tribute performance at the Grammy's

Lady Gaga is reported to pay tribute to David Bowie after his death. The singer has been announced to be performing a number at the upcoming Grammy Awards.

According to reports, the "Poker Face" singer is set to honor Ziggy Stardust by performing some of his most unforgettable hits during the 2016 Grammy Awards.

"We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year's show, but when David passed-almost in a single moment-we knew we had to change direction," said Grammy's executive producer, Ken Ehrlich.

"We immediately spoke and agreed that she should be the one to honor David," he added. "She's perfect for it. So I reached out to the Nile [Rodgers] and, before long, we were on our way to creating what we believe will not only make a great Grammy moment but one befitting of David."

Ehrlich revealed that he had contacted numerous artists who wanted to perform as a tribute to David Bowie after his death. However, he only had Lady Gaga in mind.

New York Times reported that the "Applause" singer's Grammy's performance will last six to seven minutes or about three to four songs.

"[It] is going to be a true homage to who David was, particularly musically, but not ignoring his influence on fashion and pop culture in a broader way," the exec producer said.

Just two days before the legendary musician passed away, the "Bad Romance" singer talked about how the music icon influenced her, musically.

"When I fell in love with David Bowie, when I was living on the Lower East Side," Gaga told The Hollywood Reporter in January. "I always felt that his glamour was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls."

"I thought it was interesting to dress like a fashionista and kind of envelope myself in this plastic image and sing things that are very heartfelt and wrap them up in something kind of not heartfelt," she added.

Following the death of David Bowie, the 2016 Grammy Awards will air on CBS, February 15, Monday.
