'Legend of Zelda Wii U' Updates: Release Date Not Confirmed; Game Rumored Heading For Cancellation

Following the announcement of the upcoming action-adventure game "The Legend of Zelda Wii U" in 2014, gamers have since been keeping an eye to its official release date to be confirmed.

While there earlier claims that the game setting will come into view with a dual launch on Wii U and NX, adding that the release date will probably be taking place some time this year, things have apparently turned out exactly the opposite.

Though it is not clear yet if "The Legend of Zelda Wii U" will still push through for a 2016 release date, rumor has it that the highly anticipated video game can be headed for cancellation or may be pushed back on a later release.

However, Nintendo was quick to shut down the cancellation rumors after releasing their latest financial earning report for its third quarter, wherein aside from the company's growth being shown, some information also showed the scheduled release dates in the row.

While the game was enlisted for a 2016 release, the exact date for "The Legend of Zelda Wii U" has not been posted yet. Among the highlighted games set for release soon are Fire Emblem: Fates, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD and Star Fox Zero.

As reported by Venturebeat, "The Legend of Zelda for Wii U is still coming in 2016, according to Nintendo's report for its fiscal third quarter. The highly anticipated game is only one of six games that Nintendo is promising for the Wii U at this point."

It added, "As Nintendo comes limping out of the holidays after missing earnings expectations, it may have a hard time generating any serious revenue from its current console thanks to the light lineup."

This has brought up speculations that the game is still in the works, especially after the fact that it will be coming out in Nintendo NX. Reports added that if the release date will not happen this year, it might be out next year or a year afer.

At the very least, gamers are expecting that "The Legend of Zelda Wii U" will be out for release later this year.
