The all-new Chromecast Audio

17-year-old internet search giant Google just released their new variant of Chromecast device. Known as Google Chromecast Audio, the audio streaming device was announced on Tuesday at Nexus launch event, CNet writes.

The all-new Google Chromecast Audio lets its user stream music from phone, tablet or PC to a speaker with an audio jack. Its round design appears to be similar to old-fashioned music albums, reminding us back in days of collecting CDs. The device supports a variety of music services which includes Pandora, Rdio, Spotify and most especially Google's very own Play Music app.

Aside from Google Chromecast Audio, the company also announced the launch of two new smartphones for their growing Nexus lineup: the Nexus 6P from Huawei and Nexus 5X from LG.Bboth smartphones have a 12.3 megapixel camera, fingerprint sensor and the new USB C port - and they will run the newest mobile OS Android Marshmallow, BBC reports.

With the announcement of Chromecast Audio, it has been speculated by consumers that the device will compete in sales against the currently leading name in home audio streaming, Sonos. The latter has their very own Sonos Connect, which turns up your regular speakers into Sonos speakers. While it delivers really good audio quality, it is also very expensive with its retail price of $350. Meanwhile, the Chromecast Audio costs $35 - about tenth of Sonos' pricing - and aside from music streaming, users can get a selection of apps to enjoy their favorite music as reported by Engadget.

The Google Chromecast Audio is part of the company's ongoing strategy of integrating technology into consumer's homes. The original Chromecast turns your TV into a smart device, while their other products such as the latest Google Nest thermostat automatically sets the temperature based on your life and the change from day to night, from one season to the next. Another gadget called OnHub smart router, launched in August, can be controlled by a smartphone app and is aiming towards connecting all of your home devices together.
