South Korean Girl Group Mamamoo To Release Free Digital Single Before Official Comeback
All-girl group Mamamoo will make a comeback in February with a full-length album after seven months. But before the most awaited comeback, the South Korean girl group will release a free digital single on Friday, Korea Joongang Daily reported Thursday.
RBW Entertainment announced on Tuesday that the digital single will made available for their fans to listen and download for free.
"Before MAMAMOO's first full-album release, they'll release a surprise pre-single on Jan. 29," the agency said, as noted by Allkpop Monday. "MAMAMOO's first full-length album is planned to drop at the end of next month."
Mamamoo formally debuted on Jun. 18, 2014 with their single, entitled "Mr. Ambiguous." Their debut was branded as one of the best Korean pop debuts of that year.
Before they formally started, the girl band collaborated with several artists including Bumkey and K. Will for "Don't Be Happy" and "Peppermint Chocolate" respectively. Mamamoo's collaboration with K. Will ranked 11th on the Gaon Digital Chart during its first week of release.
On the same year, the band released their second mini-album called "Piano Man." Mamamoo's career took off since they started after landing on the 10th highest among Kpop girl groups for digital sales. They also ranked 19th for album sales and 11th in overall sales in 2014.
The all-girl band was also given the New Artist of the Year award at the Gaon Chart K-pop Awards and Rookie of the Year at the Seoul Success Awards.
Aside from that, Mamamoo also received a couple of nominations at the MelOn Music Awards, Seoul Music Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards.
Mamamoo released "Ahh Oop!" on April 2 under their third mini-album "Pinky Funky." The band collaborated with eSNa for the single.
The four-member group is composed of Solar (24), Moonbyul (23), Wheein (20) and Hwasa (20). Meanwhile, Moonbyul and Solar appeared in web dramas "Start Love" and "Imaginary Cat" last year.
