Marvel Developing Vampire Series With Wesley Snipes; Will A Netflix Series Be Better Than 'Blade 4'?

Fans are still clamoring for Wesley Snipes to return as the day-walking vampire hunter Blade. We've known for quite some time that Marvel has reclaimed the right to the franchise -- so, the question remains: is "Blade 4" secretly in the works?

Snipes, who played the character from 1998 to 2004, previously confirmed that he was in talks with Marvel Studios about another "Blade" installment.

"The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things," Snipes said in a statement published by Deadline in July last year. I don't know where it's on their schedule at this point, that hasn't been decided. I guess it's still up in the air."

"I've always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and it'd be nice to be a part of the family again. But if we don't do a 'Blade 4' or something else with Marvel, we'll do something else," the actor added. "We have some other characters and some other concepts that are going to be just as exciting and hopefully just as successful."

The last "Blade" film, 2004's "Trinity," was slammed by critics and is considered to be the franchise's most unsuccessful installment. This begs the question: should Snipes return for another "Blade" movie?

According to to Screen Rant, Blade could potentially fare better with a Netflix series now that Marvel is enjoying steady success with "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones."

"Marvel has reacquired the licenses for Punisher, Ghost Rider and Blade, with Punisher set to join 'Daredevil' on Netflix in its second season," the site wrote. "With the types of stories Marvel is telling on that platform, along with the inherent violence the Punisher is sure to bring to his storyline, Netflix just might be the better home for 'Blade' as we've been saying for years."

While "Blade 4" is yet to be confirmed, fans can catch Wesley Snipes in NBC's drama series "The Player."
