"The Flash" season 2 episode 11 was filled with everything - father and son moments, blossoming relationship, big decisions and even break ups.

While no one died in the episode, there is one character that fans might not see in the upcoming weeks (or season). Patty Spivot decided to break up with Barry Allen after learning that he is the Flash.

This is one of the heart-breaking moments in "The Flash" season 2 episode 11 titled "The Reverse-Flash Returns." Patty's romance with the Central City hero was well-received by fans and many of them rue the show's decision to let go of Shantel VanSanten.

Is Patty really gone for good?

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said he hopes to see VanSanten in the set again.

"We love working with Shantel and we'll always hope that we get to see her again in the future," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "But in the immediate future, this is her goodbye."

"We very consciously did not kill her and we all loved working with her and how much the audience liked her, so I wouldn't be surprised if we haven't seen the last of Patty Spivot."

Fans may be so hurt, but so is Barry. However, the Scarlet Speedster will find ways to turn Patty's departure in "The Flash" season 2 episode 11 into a positive thing.

"Just like with not being able to save his mother, Barry was challenged by Wells in that video about how he can never be happy," he added.

"Now that he's lost Patty, he's going to return his focus to stopping Zoom. He feels like, if he can just stop Zoom, then he can finally be happy."

As for his love life, Kreisberg said he will get another shot at a happy heart.

"I think if I tease it, I'd be ruining all the surprises. I'm just going to say, keep watching."

The next "The Flash" season 2 episode is called "Fast-Lane" and will air on Feb. 2.
