His supposed thwarted casting for James Bond was reportedly one of the reasons as well.
According to Movie News Guide's recent report, the "Divergent" actor postponed his wedding with the Irish actress because he wanted to work on becoming Daniel Craig's protégé.
However, it looks like Hugh Jackman has a better chance of landing the role, according to The Daily Mail.
Kpopstarz further claimed that this news made the British actor jealous.
Korea Portal previously reported that Kearney had to fly all the way to Prague last year just to spend some time with the 31-year-old British actor, who had been filming for "Underworld: Next Generation" with Kate Beckinsale.
Franchise Herald, on the other hand, noted that James could be avoiding his co-star Shailene Woodley because of the romance rumors that circulated the rumor mill since their first movie together.
Movie News Guide claimed that based on other relationships in Hollywood films, there's a high chance for them to develop feelings for each other beyond friendship.
The upcoming sequel, "Divergent: Allegiant," won't be helping James avoid the "Fault In Our Stars" star. Aside from having a bed scene in the film, they will also be thrown together for its promotional events.
This new film will undoubtedly expose James all the more, inviting, even more, future projects for him. Perhaps another James Bond offer will cross his path as well, giving him virtually no time to plan for a wedding.
Apparently, if they're still together now, a jam-packed schedule would likely cause Theo James and Ruth Kearney to split up eventually.
There have already been a lot of Hollywood couples who maintained long engagements only to break up in the end.
