Zooey Deschanel MIA In 'New Girl,' Megan Fox Not The Only New Cast Member, 'Walking Dead' Cross-Over Set?
"New Girl" and "Walking Dead" fans, listen up! There's a new girl to join Megan Fox, Zooey Deschanel and the rest of the "New Girl" cast in season 5.
If you're a fan of "New Girl," then you probably know that Zooey Deschanel is being replaced by Megan Fox - at least temporarily. While this causes enough excitement, another news might thrill fans even more - the addition of a "Walking Dead" actress in season 5.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Sonequa Martin-Green, who played the role of Sasha Williams in "The Walking Dead," has been cast as a guest star on the comedy series.
"The Walking Dead star will play Rhonda, Winston's (Lamorne Morris) new girlfriend, an Army Reservist, who is just as bad a prankster as Winston is - and who Schmidt (Max Greenfield) very much doesn't want Winston bringing as his plus-one to his and Cece's (Hannah Simone) upcoming wedding," Entertainment Weekly reported.
Meanwhile, on "New Girl" season 5, episode 3, Zooey Deschanel's character, Jess, disappears for jury duty, which she called a "privilege," until a chance to become an acting principal at her school arises.
Jess tries to get out of jury duty, asking her trusty (and weird) friends for advice. Later on, however, with much pressure from a lawyer named Daniel (played by John Cho from "Harold & Kumar Go To The White Castle"), Jess caves in.
Zooey Deschanel's character being sequestered for jury duty is of course an excuse to let the actress go on maternity leave. She is set to be temporarily replaced by "Transformers" star, Megan Fox, who will play the role of "Raegan."
According to "New Girl's" executive producer, Liz Merriweather, Raegan is a "gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep who comes to town on business and shakes things up in the loft."
"New Girl" airs every Tuesday, 8:00 PM on Fox.
