Jaguar Enters South Korea’s Market for Sport Sedan
Hoping to battle for the sales of sport sedan in Korea, Jaguar has unveiled the XE at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Thursday. It is targeted at young drivers, who love to find sleek design and high performance in a car.
According to CEO Baek Jung-hyun of Jaguar Land Rover Korea, "We expect the XE to expand Jaguar's position in the entry-level premium imports sedan that is led by BMW's 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes Benz's C Class".
Jaguar XE has a model range consisting of the SE, Prestige, R-Sport, Portfolio and S. The first 4 models are available in 180PS diesel engine, while the fifth boasts of a 3.0 V6 340PS supercharged engine. But whether an individual buys the SE or S, he can guarantee a wonderful experience with the company's assurance that "every Jaguar XE is dynamic, efficient, luxurious and loaded with sporting style."
However, there's a catch - these cars range from 47.6 million to 69.9 million won. Then again, the luxury automaker is making good progress with 200 pre-orders in the past month, despite the 2 million to 5 million-won price difference between XE and its competitors. This means that some people don't mind the price too much, considering the performance efficiency that XE's design promises. It also features an All Surface Progress Control (ASPC) that helps drivers obtain better grip during difficult road conditions.
The director of marketing and PR Cho Joo-hyun thinks the price is reasonable and competitive, considering that diesel sedans are popular in the country. In fact, Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA) has stated that among the 140,539 imported cars sold from January to July, 69% runs on diesel.
Well, it looks like Jaguar will be seeing significant sales. According to Baek, XE is just the start of their goal to introduce improved designs and engines in the next years.
"We expect the XE to be a game changer in the imported car market that will lead us to expand our share among Korean consumers", he says.
