Sam Heughan Dating Caitriona Balfe In Real Life? ‘Outlander’ Stars More Than Friends?

Despite Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe's denials of any romantic relationship, the rumor about the "Outlander" couple dating in real life just won't die down.

According to a new article from CDL, the two celebrities just couldn't hide their affections from each other.

Cast and crew reportedly swore to keep their real relationship to themselves, but a secret that juicy won't stay hidden for so long.

"Sam and Caitriona were taking a short break between scenes when I saw them off to the side, holding hands and Sam was even whispering in her ear," a supposed extra on the show dished. "She was laughing at whatever he said and well, they looked like an ordinary couple."

Previously, Caitriona Balfe has denied the rumor that she's dating Sam Heughan.

In an interview with E! News, the 36-year-old beauty insisted that they are great friends and it showed on their performance on "Outlander."

"We're not together," she said. "It's funny. We've always said from the get go that we're incredibly great friends. And to have that friendship and that closeness and to be able to get along as we do on set, it's great that we're able to get along that well."

She added, "We're not together. I'm sorry to break people's hearts. They like to try to maybe replicate the Claire and Jamie story. But I think it would be difficult for us to work together and be together."

Sam Heughan couldn't help but fuel the dating rumors when the 35-year-old actor told Caitriona Balfe, "Yeah, we could try..."

But he quickly added, "No, I think it's strange, isn't it? Because I think people buy into the show and us saying it's not real, they feel like they've been duped. It's like, 'You acted it. You lied to us!' And I'm like, 'Well, sorry!'"

Fans can at least watch Sam Hueghan and Caitriona Balfe's characters set the screen aflame on "Outlander" season 2, which returns in April 2016.
