South Korean Actor Son Hyun Joo Says He Is Ready To ‘Do Something Brighter’ After Upcoming Thriller Film ‘The Phone’
South Korean actor Son Hyun Joo reveals in an interview that he has played "some cheerful roles" before he started taking part on serious films. The 50-year-old actor also says he does not want to play the same role over and over again, thus, he is now ready to show his fans that he "can do something brighter."
"It's been a while since I did some cheerful roles," says Son, as noted by Korea Joongang Daily Friday. "There must be some people in their middle or high school years who may have not seen me playing any positive roles."
He goes on, "I think now is the time to show them I can do something brighter. I don't want to be an actor who is stubborn and always takes similar roles."
The Korean actor also shares his experiences since he started acting two decades ago. Soo says he did not get big roles when he moved to television from theater. However, the actor says his journey has molded him into the actor that he is right now.
"I'm actually so thankful for that, for not getting any big roles back then, because I wouldn't have done a great job. And I don't think I could have continued acting."
"Still now, I don't care if I get a big or small role. It is important to just do your best to deliver what you are assigned to do," Soo adds.
Meanwhile, Soo plays as an elite attorney for his upcoming film entitled, "The Phone," which will hit the theaters on Oct. 22. The thriller film will evolve around the story of Go Dong Ho (Soo) on his search to find his wife (Um Ji Won) whom he thought was killed about a year ago.
"I found myself falling deeper and deeper into the scenario while reading it, and I just do not know how to describe the excitement that I felt while reading the struggles that the main character goes through. I will do my best to make good scenes," he says, as noted by StarN News on Feb. 10, 2015.
Soo also tells Korea Joongang Daily's affiliate, Ilgan Sports, that the filming for "The Phone" was not easy for him.
"I have done many movies dealing with some heavy story lines over the past five years, so my life has been very grey, but with this movie, I think I made it entirely black."
