‘The View’ Host Raven Symone To Be Fired Soon? Says She’s Not African-American!
"The View" host Raven Symone and her co-host Whoopi Goldberg are facing criticisms after they said that they do not identify themselves as an African-American. This resulted to reports that they might get fired soon.
In its latest episode, co-host Joy Behar was talking about Donald Trump's campaign for the presidency. She noted that many Americans might leave the country if he won the elections, The Hollywood Take said in a recent report.
"You know what?" Whoopi Goldberg meanwhile responded, as reported in a Rolling Out article. "Uh-huh! This is my country. My mother, my grandmother, my great-grand folks, we busted a-s to be here. I'm sorry. I'm an American. I'm not an African-American. I'm not a chick American. I'm an American."
Meanwhile, "The View" host Raven Symone added, "I'm an American! I've been here too long to not just hold American."
This resulted to a Twitter backlash as follower sof the show tweeted dismay over Raven Symone and Whoopi Goldberg's opinions.
"So now Whoopi super black ass not African American? That's what happen when you hang with Raven mental ass," one user said.
Rumors also have it that the management is planning to fire the hosts after being engaged in a series of offending remarks on various topics in the show.
In 2014, "The View" host Raven Symone also gathered criticisms when she said that she was tired of being labeled.
"I'm an American," she told Oprah Winfrey. "I'm not an African-American; I'm an American. ... I don't label myself. I have darker skin. I have a nice, interesting grade of hair. I connect with Caucasian. I connect with Asian. I connect with Black. I connect with Indian. I connect with each culture."
Last October, "The View" producers received a petition to fire Raven Symone after releasing a statement that she would not "hire someone with a ghetto name."
