Glenn Frey's Death Shocks Fans; Eagles Founding Member Dies At 67; Cause Determined!

One of the founding members of the Eagles, Glenn Frey, has died at the age of 67. His death follows the string of musicians and notable personalities passing on for late last year and early 2016.

According to The Independent, Frey was known to be a great musician, with numerous abilities and a musicality that could not be ignored.

Being the voice behind popular Eagles songs such as "Tequila Sunrise," "Lyin' Eyes" and "Take It Easy." Frey died in New York City after becoming ill of acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia, according to his bandmates, as cited by the source above.

Glenn Frey's death was announced via the band's official Facebook page.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016," the statement read. "The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery."

"Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide," the statement added.

According to CTV News, the musician already had health problems years before his passing. One of these include diverticulitis which dated back to the 1980. Later, he became a fitness advocate.

Frey, who could play both guitar and keyboards, formed The Eagles together with drummer Don Henley, in Los Angeles in the early 1970's. The two took parts in singing their songs. Other members of the band included guitarist Bernie Leadon and bassist Randy Meisner.

The Eagles became a hit over the next decade as they embodied, if not pioneered, melodic California sound and both the band's greatest hits from the mid-1970's and Hotel California are among the best-selling albums in History.

Glenn Frey death has since shocked fans all over the world. They have expressed their grief via their social media accounts.
