‘Fashion Police’ Host Remembers Joan Rivers, Shares How The Late Comedienne Inspired The Cast
"Fashion Police" host Giuliana Rancic recently talked about the show's former lead host, Joan Rivers. In an interview with Daily Mail, the E! mainstay shared how the late comedienne inspired the cast.
Following the untimely resignation of former member Kelly Osbourne and Rivers' replacement Kathy Griffin, rumors circulated that the popular fashion critique show will soon get cancelled.
However, Giuliana Rancic explained that their six-month hiatus following the series' numerous controversies was only temporary.
"I knew Fashion Police was a resilient show and it was a show that isn't just popular here in the US but it airs in over 100 countries, so it does really well internationally," the 41-year-old host pointed out.
"It is a show that people love to watch and as it lets them forget about the real stuff happening in the world and just laugh for an hour," she added.
After which Rancic shared how the deceased comedienne encouraged her and the other cast members of the show.
"I would go, 'Joan we're having so much fun today, this is hilarious,'" she started. "Then Joan would say, 'Giuliana, do you realize how hard life is for people? Do you realize how much pain there is in this world?'"
"'For us to not joke about Hollywood and to not joke about stitching on a dress or a way a dress looks... it's ridiculous,''' she added, quoting Rivers.
Moreso, Rancic detailed the instances when the rest of the cast members would get tired during filming. Joan would remind them of how blessed they are to be part of the popular E! program.
"This is nothing what we are doing," Joan would reportedly say. "We're laughing, having fun and it should be fun"
As one can remember, after initially struggling following the death of the comedienne and resignations of their former hosts, the show eventually found their ground when it went back on air last July 2015.
In a report from People, Joan Rivers' daughter and the show's executive producer and host Melissa Rivers shared how the new cast is more creative now.
"I think we really started to find our footing those last few episodes that I hosted," Melissa Rivers said. "So now that we have our feet underneath us, I think we can start to explore creatively a little bit more."
Currently, the longest mainstay host of "Fashion Police" is Giuliana Rancic.
