Before David Bowie's Death: 'Goodbye' Email Sent To Brian Eno; Family Speaks Up!

News of David Bowie's death left the whole world shocked and left millions of fans wondering what his last few days were like.

In a recent statement released by Brian Eno, the public is given a rare peek into Bowie's brand of friendship during his final days.

"David's death came as a complete surprise, as did nearly everything else about him," Eno said of the shocking news. "I feel a huge gap now. We knew each other for over 40 years, in a friendship that was always tinged by echoes of (comic characters) Pete and Dud."

Brian Eno, who has worked with David Bowie for years - including three of his albums "Low," "Heroes" and "Lodger," also known as the "Berlin trilogy" albums, revealed that the singer-songwriter sent him a "goodbye" email a few days before his death.

"I received an email from him seven days ago," Eno said. "It was as funny as always, and as surreal, looping through word games and allusions and all the usual stuff we did,"

"It ended with this sentence: 'Thank you for our good times, Brian. they will never rot,'" he added. "And it was signed 'Dawn'. I realize now he was saying goodbye."

Meanwhile, a few days after news of broke out about his passing, Bowie's family has released a statement on Facebook.

"The family of David Bowie is currently making arrangements for a private ceremony celebrating the memory of their beloved husband, father and friend," it read. "They ask once again that their privacy be respected at this most sensitive of times. We are overwhelmed by and grateful for the love and support shown throughout the world."

David Bowie's death happened on Sunday, Jan. 10, after battling with Cancer for 18 months. Since then, fans and celebrities alike have paid tribute in memory of the legendary musician.
