Actor Kim Soo Hyun Will Star In His Own Mobile Game Produced by Chakuong, KeyEast and Panda Korea
South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun will star in a mobile game that is slated to be released in the Chinese market on Friday, KeyEast Agency confirmed.
According to Soompi, the agency also confirmed on Jun. 8 that the project is produced by Chinese mobile company Chakuong and Pandakorea.com. In the game, Kim will appear as the main character.
Chakuong is the developer of Cocos2d-x engine, which accounts for close to 70 percent in the Chinese game engine market and has more than 100 million Chinese users a day.
Reportedly, Chakuong will create the game while KeyEast will provide the contents of the game. Funding on the other hand will come from online shopping site Pandakorea.com, which will also be in charge of marketing the product.
"We are delighted to be launching a game that utilizes Hallyu contents alongside a global mobile game company. It'll become a good example of taking the Hallyu boom - advanced through drama and music - and taking it to a high-value industry like games," KeyEast CEO Bae Sung Woong said.
The new social networking game will enables a player to live the life of a rookie artist who gradually makes his way to the top of list. Korea Herald reported that in the game, players will be able to interact with a non-playable character modeled after Kim Soo Hyun. They can take photos, appear on entertainment shows and also star in films in the virtual game world.
Born in 1988, the popular Hallyu actor is best known for his roles in the television dramas "Dream High," "The Producers" and "My Love from the Star." According to Yonhap News Agency, Hyun gained a wider audience through the hit drama series "My Love from the Star," which also features Jun Ji Hyun.
The game will be available on Thursday in China both on Android and iOS. It will soon become available throughout Asia.
