Hyundai Genesis Launches the G90 Premium Luxury Sedan In The Global Market
Hyundai Motor Company unveiled its G90 premium luxury sedan at the American International Auto show held on Tuesday.
During the Auto Show, Hyundai Vice Chairman Chung Eui Sun gave a presentation about the brand's values as well as its vision. Peter Schreyer, Hyundai's design chief, explained the company's design philosophy while Albert Biermann discussed the G90's performance.
Referred to as the flagship car of the brand's luxury model lineup by the Automotive World, G90 was created by the new Prestige Design group to provide a strong indication of the brand's 'Athletic Elegance' design identity.
"In the past half a century, Hyundai made a culture of ceaselessly working to make better products for customers," Chung said. "That special culture brought about the birth of our luxury car Genesis."
Chung also confirmed that the company plans at least six new models for the Genesis lineup in 2020.
According to the Korea Times, the G90 is sold in Korea as the EQ900. It is the first vehicle developed under Hyundai's Genesis luxury brand.
Automotive World reported that G90 sedan features the Genesis Smart Sense and other convenient features that enable partial automatic driving with its driving assist system. According to Hyundai News, the features cover a full spectrum of active and passive safety. They enhance driver alertness, focus on total occupant safety as well as the safety of other.
The top-of-the-line sedan also has an Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system that utilizes sensor fusion technology to avoid any potential collision or reduce its impact by employing automatic braking.
With every detail of the interior crafted and developed by an 800-strong team, the G90 offers best-in-class NVH refinement levels to enhance a sense of luxury by offering a 22-way power driver seat and an advanced H-TRAC all-wheel-drive system. G90's entertainment features and exclusive materials are sourced from the best artisans around the world.
Other than its distinctive appearance and style, The G90 is fitted with a choice of two gasoline engine. It has a 3.3-liter direct-injected, twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces an estimated 365 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. The other engine is a 5.0-liter direct-injected V8 engine that develops an estimated 420 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. Both engines runs on optional premium fuel.
Engineers allege that the new Hyundai sedan has special sound-absorbing materials throughout the cabin to minimize noise and vibration. Other outstanding features include a swipe command system for second-row passengers and sensors embedded in the back of the seats to capture vital health information.
Meanwhile, Hyundai aims to sell close to 5,000 G90 sedans every year and a total of 100,000 Genesis vehicles by the year 2020
