Hillary Clinton Tops 2016 Poll; Bernie Sanders Falls Behind At The 2nd Spot!
The New Year started in a positive note for Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, after she finished first in polls released January 2016.
Hillary Clinton remains the front-runner in Iowa, although Republican candidate Bernie Sanders still holds strong in New Hampshire.
According to a Fox Poll released Jan. 8, 2016, Bernie Sanders is ahead of Hillary by 50-37 percent margin among Democratic voters.
"Sanders has increased his advantage over Clinton since mid-November, when he was up by just one point (45-44 percent)," Fox reported. "The senator from neighboring Vermont continues to do well among the younger crowd. Voters under age 45 pick him over Clinton by a 24-point margin (55-31 percent)."
Meanwhile, according to an NBC/WSJ/Marist poll, the current secretary remains as the front-runner in the state of Iowa in December, with 48% over Sanders' 45%. It would be possible, however, for the Bernie Sanders to catch up with Hillary Clinton in upcoming 2016 polls.
Following Sanders' improving numbers in Iowa, Hillary warned Iowans that if elected president, Sanders would be raising taxes on the middle class citizens.
"We're so much better than the Republicans. But we do have differences and you deserve to know what those differences are," she said, The New York Times reported.
She also called out her opponent's healthcare platform of scrapping the present Affordable Care Act and following a universal health plan. According to Clinton, this plan would ultimately benefit Republican governors.
"There's no way, if you do the arithmetic, to pay for what he has proposed without raising taxes on the middle class," she said. "That's where he and I part ways."
Recently, Hillary Clinton has been more active on social media, in the hopes of reaching a younger audience and ultimately increasing her position on the 2016 polls. Just his week, Lena Dunham, a gender equality advocate, activist and a popular personality among millennial women, took over the Democratic candidate's Instagram account to reach out to her audience.
