'Avengers: Infinity War' Directors Reveal How 67 Characters Can Appear In The Film

"Captain America: Civil War" cast members Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Jeremy Renner, and Hayley Atwell recently attended Wizard World Comic-Con in New Orleans. At the convention, directors Joe and Anthony Russo participated in a Q&A session wherein they teased the characters appearing in their next project: "Avengers: Infinity War."

During the panel, Anthony mistakenly referred to Hayley Atwell's character as Sharon Carter, who is actualy portrayed by Emily VanCamp. Joe corrected Anthony and explained why it's easy to mix the characters' names.

"We have so many characters we're dealing with," Joe said in statement published by Screen Rant. "We're breaking ground on Avengers: Infinity War. We have a board with 67 characters on it. You have to forgive him."

"Infinity War" will see the arrival of Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it shoudln't come as a surprise that the Russo's are pulling out all the stops in their upcoming films.

"People will not be disappointed in the amount of characters in the movie," the Russo's said earlier in a separate interview with Comic Book. "The concept of 'Infinity War' is that the Marvel universe unites to battle the greatest threat to the world and universe that you've ever seen, and we're going to honor that concept."

Fans of the Marvel franchise are already guessing which of their favorite characters will appear in "Avengers: Infinity War." It could possibly feature the two Avengers teams from "Civil War" (depending on the outcome of the film), Thor and his Asgardian warriors, the Guardians of the Galaxy team and the characters to be revealed in Phase 3 (Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel and Wasp).

There's also a possibility that Marvel, despite their current track record of not integrating characters from their TV series, are joining the war against Thanos.

Then again, these are just speculations until Marvel officially announces Avengers: Infinity War's" roster of characters.

"Avengers: Infinity War Part I" releases on May 4, 2018, and "Part II" on May 3, 2019.
