Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Update Not A Mere Marketing Ploy? ‘Rainbow’ Rumors Surface
Microsoft is pulling out all the stops to assuage fears that its Xbox One backwards compatibility update may be a mere a marketing ploy to win back old Xbox 360 users.
This developed as Mike Nichols, Corporate Vice President of Marketing for Xbox One, announced that the company has in fact outlined plans for the next-generation console, while confirming that hundreds of Xbox 360 games will soon be workable on Xbox One, reported the Express.
"Since Xbox One Backward Compatibility released on November 12 with more than 100 playable titles, global Xbox gamers have logged more than 15 million hours playing Xbox 360 games on Xbox One," Nichols said in a statement via the Express.
"As we close a record 2015 for Xbox, there is even more in store for gamers in 2016," he added.
The Microsoft executive noted that 2016 "is shaping up to be an even bigger year for gamers" with the roll out of the Xbox One compatibility update playable games, and a "wave of investments in Xbox One and gaming on Windows 10, new Xbox Live updates and features for the console including Cortana."
"Last year we were proud to offer you the greatest games lineup in Xbox history, and we are thrilled to see all the fun you're having playing them," Nichols said.
According to Trusted Reviews, it seems that Microsoft is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the success of its Xbox One compatibility update with the rumored release of another bundle that is "'Rainbow Six' flavored."
Although the company has not yet made any officially announcement on the bundle's release, avid Xbox One fans have already spotted retailer listings online.
"The bundle in question seems to come with a 1TB Black Xbox One console and a copy of Rainbow Six Siege," the tech site said.
As the bundle includes "Rainbow Six Vegas" and "Rainbow Six Vegas 2," playable on Xbox One, the tech portal speculated that "it looks like there might be a few new Xbox One backwards compatibility announcements."
There are also rumors that the bundle, which can be run through the Xbox backwards compatibility update, may even launch as soon as January 10 of this year.
