No Holly Holm-Ronda Rousey Rematch Yet But Dana White Assures Rowdy Will Fight This Year

Fans might have to wait a little longer to see a Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey rematch in Ultimate Fighting Championship.

UFC president Dana White said the second edition of the UFC 193 match might not happen, at least in a foreseeable future.

"Holly Holm will fight before she fights Ronda," White said during Wednesday's episode of UFC Tonight.

He also did not say anything about a possible Holly Holm - Ronda Rousey rematch but assured that Rowdy will fight this 2016.

"You will see Ronda Rousey fight again," White added. "Ronda has some well-deserved time off, but she will fight this year."

Just last month, Rousey expressed her desire to get a rematch against Holm who handed her first loss in her pro career.

"It's what I want," Rousey said when ambushed in an interview by TMZ Sports. "It's up to the UFC, and it's up to her camp. So, we'll see what happens."

In another interview with ESPN, the former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion was also very particular whom she should beat, Holly Holm.

"I need to come back," Rousey said. "I need to beat this chick. Who knows if I'm going to pop my teeth out or break my jaw or rip my lip open again. I have to f*cking do it. It doesn't matter. I have to do it."

Just last month, White said there will be a Holly Holm-Ronda Rousey rematch. However, the latter's trainer is not optimistic about her fitness and suggested maybe Miesha Tate, who Rousey beat, should fight Holm.

"I'm not sure Ronda will be ready for a July fight," Fresquez told Los Angeles Times. "She took a severe beating [in her fight with Holm] and I don't think it's in her best interest to take the next fight so fast.

"Holly's used to staying active. We're from the old school and we believe the No. 1 contender is there for a reason. ... [Tate] deserves a shot."
