Finally the Android M or the Moto E Android 6.0 update is here for the Motorola users.

After its update on Nexus devices last year, its been reported that Moto E and several other latest handset models from Motorola will receive the Android Marshmallow 6.0 update in the first quarter of 2016.

Official Motorola website has already displayed the list of models on its blog.

"Our current plans for Marshmallow upgrades include the following products," the giant mobile company said. "This will evolve over time, so check back for changes."

Some of the devices listed include Moto G 2014 and 2015, Moto X 1st Gen, 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen and lastly, Moto E, Motorola Mobility stated.

However, the Moto E Android Marshmallow 6.0 update will be available in select regions only. This is a backtracking move from Motorola when it drew a lot of flak from users and critics earlier for stating that it does not intend to upgrade 2015 Moto E handsets, said NDTV Gadgets.

The updated Motorola website blog stated that Moto E (Gen 2) will be getting the aforementioned update in Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia.

However, the company said that Moto E (Gen 2) will not be getting the software update in China, said Android Central.

Some of the devices that are conspicuously missing from the list are first generation Moto E (2014), Moto X and Moto G, which further lowers the chances of these devicse ever getting an update from the company.

Older models like Droid Turbo and Moto Maxx from the previous year are also eligible for Android Marshmallow 6.0 update.

Other models to receive Moto E Android Marshmallow 6.0 update are Moto X Pure Edition (2015) and Moto X Style, Moto X (2014), Droid Maxx 2 and Moto X Play, Droid Turbo 2 and Moto X Force, Moto G (2015) and Moto G (2014), International Business Times stated.
