Fans of U2 were elated to hear news that the Dublin band's new album "Songs of Experience" will be coming out this 2016 as stated by sources.

Both of U2's Edge and Bono assured music fans that they're working really hard on their new album, which is a follow-up to their 2014 album "Songs of Innocence," and is expected to be released this 2016, according to Billboard.

However, could this next record boast a better performance from their last album?

Fans could remember that "Songs of Innocence" was criticized by Pink Floyd, mocked by Everclear, and disappointed Foo Fighter's drummer Taylor Hawkins, as claimed by the Consequence of Sound

"What happened to U2, man?" Taylor Hawkins said in an interview as he criticized U2's 2014 album.

"I don't think people are that hyped on them...it's so marred by that whole sort of, like I said, Orwellian, '1984' extreme that it just kinda sounds like a fart any way you listen to it," he added.

New reports claim that U2's creative process in coming up with the new album was reminiscent of their 1993 album "Zooropa," which was heavily influenced by dance music just a tad bit off their comfort zone, explained by the source.

"Brian Eno would love to see us making albums a bit more like that," the guitarist said, via DIY Mag.

He added, "Where we go, 'You know what? We're not going to second-guess any of this. Let's just go for it.' I think there's a quality you get when there's a certain momentum to the process."

Meanwhile, U2's lead singer Bono even commented that after his bike accident in Novemeber 2014, their plans of working on the new album "Songs of Experience" for this 2016 actually turned out favorable for them.

"The gift of it was that I had time to write while in the mentality that you get to at the end of an album," Bono told Q, courtesy of RTE Ten.

"There is a reason why all the great groups made their best albums while in and around touring, because the ideas have to come out of your head," he added.
