The Pokémon Company, in collaboration with Nintendo and Niantic (a former Google start up), has announced the release date of the new Pocket Monster game "Pokémon Go," reports a gamer's guide, Kotaku, on Thursday.

"The day has finally come when Pokémon appear in the real world," says Pokémon designer Junichi Masuda.

Niantic, famous for its reality smartphone game "Ingress," is developing the game. Together with Nintendo and Pokémon Company, they will create a fresh style of playing the Pokémon game. Players will capture, train and battle Pokémons as they step outside their homes and offices.

With the release of "Pokémon Go," a companion smartwatch called Pokémon Go Plus is also developed by Nintendo. This allows players to throw a Poké Ball. The device works with the players' mobile phones, which vibrate and flash as a player encounters a Pokémon in the real world.

Video game designer and producer Shigeru Miyamoto notes how he likes the idea of parents and their kids playing together as the young ones wear the Pokémon Go Plus paired with the adults' phones.

President and CEO of the Pokémon Company Tsunekazu Ishihara notes how previous Pokémon games have been played based on real world maps and how the latest "Pokémon Go" may actually be played in the real world.

"I'm thinking about how this game will connect with titles in the main series of Pokémon games," Masuda says at a press conference.

Ishihara has been working with the late Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata, to whom the debut trailer of the game has been dedicated to, for two years, reports The Verge on Thursday.

GameSpot states on Wednesday in an article that the "Pokémon Go" is set to be released for both iOS on App Store and Android on Google Play in 2016 with in-app purchases for enhanced game play.
