Apple iMac 2016: Rumors and Specs Reveal A New 8K Display

The upcoming Apple iMac 2016 is one of the most anticipated computers.

And while many tech-savvy people are waiting for its release date, rumors of its specs have already emerged.

Amongst the latest string of releases includes the confirmation from LG Display highlighting the new 8K display for the iMac.

The press release is titled as "Next Generation of High Resolution 8K" meaning the new iMac 2016 may have a higher resolution display for its upcoming machines.

Apple had recently launched a new iMac "Retina 5K Display" from LG in October 2015 that measures 27-inches and features a 5120x2880 panel.

As per the latest Apple iMac rumors and specs Apple is reportedly testing ultra-high resolution for its iMac range of products, which is amongst its standalone display range.

This range has so far not been updated since 2011, said Ecumenical News. This new high resolution display range is likely to hit the market sometime in mid-2016.

The new iMac 8K has been dubbed as "Quad Ultra-High Definition," which will have 7680 x 4320 pixel resolution that will be four times the resolution and four times the pixels of a 4K screen.

It will be initially launched in Japan with a large scale preview to be held in 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in Korea. However, there is no official announcements from Apple so far on 8K display.

According to few experts, the iMac 2016 rumors and specs may also include upgrades to Intel's latest processors along with support for standards like USB-C that is presently only in 12-inch Retina MacBook, stated Apple Insider.

Furthermore, iMac 2016 rumors and specs also stated that since Apple upgraded every 27-inch iMac to 5K display, it is likely to do the same for its 21.5-inch 4K models as well, meaning Apple will most likely be phase out all of its non-retina display completely, said Mac World.
