Fans and gamers all around the world were delighted to hear rumors about the much anticipated Nintendo NX release date, and of announcements made that the company won't have to replace its Wii U and 3DS to compete in the gaming console wars in 2016, according to sources.

Rumors circulated back in summer when the Nintendo NX was announced on the premise that the much awaited console would be released to compete against Sony's Playstation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One, which however was clarified as not to be the case as discussed by the late President of Nintendo Satoru Iwata, as reported by Cross Map. The source also stated that Nintendo does not need to replace the 3DS and Wii U once the Nintendo NX unveils on its release date.

"As proof that Nintendo maintains strong enthusiasms for the dedicated game system business, let me confirm that Nintendo is currently developing a dedicated game platform with a brand-new concept under the development codename 'NX," Satoru Iwata stated, courtesy of Wii U Daily.

It was also rumored that the Nintendo NX release date will be sometime in 2016 as it seemed that AMD hinted they are working with a new console set to be released in the next year, and that the Nintendo NX is the only gaming console in the making, as reported by Cross Map.

As it was reported that the Nintendo NX would not replace the Wii U and 3DS, recent news about Nintendo's 3DS indicated that the handheld device has outsold both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, as stated by S Beta.

Moreover, rumors about the Nintendo NX' release date was also boosted by recent news of a leaked patented Nintendo NX controller design, which was speculated to have been filed by a few Nintendo employees, as previously reported
