The 58th Grammy Awards: Kendrick Lamar Dominates Nominations; Other Nominees Revealed!

As fans anticipate for the 58th Grammy Awards for the following year 2016, the top contenders for the widely acclaimed music awards are Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, and the Weeknd, as reported by Nytimes.

The 28-year old Los Angeles based rapper had one of this year's most popular and critically adored albums, "To Pimp a Butterfly", which is in the running for garnering nine awards that is more than any other act, according to the source.

The dominating and highly-acclaimed rapper's other nominations included best rap album for "Butterfly," pop duo performance for "Bad Blood" with popular country-singer Taylor Swift, rap performance for the song "Alright" and for co-writing the song "All Day" with Kanye West, as noted by Mercurynews.

"It's a testimony to his artistry," Portnow expressed about Lamar, courtesy of the source. "He's someone that's very serious about his art and about his craft, and has been working it for quite some time. And this is one of those instances where the work pays off."

Other leading nominees include Taylor Swift and the Weeknd, who both in the running for seven grammy awards, music producer Max Martin receiving six nominations, and mastering engineer Tom Coyne, rapper Drake and engineers/mixers Serban Ghenea and John Hanes, who are all up for five grammy award nominations, as stated by Grammy.

"The diversity in the creative community is what makes music a universal language," said President/CEO of The Recording Academy Neil Portnow, as noted by the source. "It's gratifying to see the vibrancy of today's artistic landscape reflected in this year's nominations - a testament to The Academy voting members."

"Artists are pushing boundaries in exciting ways, making it an exceptionally strong year for music," he added.

The 58th Grammy Awards will be airing live on February 26, 2016, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
