Entertainment mogul, Nick Cannon has been named chief creative officer of RadioShack, according to USA Today.

Cannon has proved himself in the entertainment industry not only as a performer but also as an entrepreneur, particularly in electronics.

RadioShack filed for bankruptcy in February so that an investing firm would be able to buy 2,400 of its stores. It is now owned by General Wireless Inc.

Under the new ownership, the electronics chain has been trying to remake itself and regain relevancy, which means leaving it's 80s reputation and gaining more appeal to Millennials.

"Nick will play an active role in the creative process and his innovation and creativity will continue to help us curate the in-store experience," told Michael Tatelman, RadioShack's chief marketing officer to Cnet.

"He'll also be developing an exclusive line of products, as well as help RadioShack continue to grow our educational and S.T.E.M (science, technology, engineering and math) initiatives nationwide," the statement continued as cited by Engadget.

Richard Doherty, research director of Envisioneering says the announcement is the first positive news to come from the struggling company. Envisioneering is a tech-focused market research company.

"There's a whole generation that's grown up not sure what RadioShack offers," says Doherty. "If (Cannon) takes an active roll and starts messaging that it's not just batteries and cables, it could be the best thing to happen to them in the last two or three years."

35-year old Cannon said his relationship with RadioShack started when he was eight years old. After inheriting stereo equipment from his grandfather, he would frequent the San Diego store in his neighborhood. This is where the rapper and DJ learned how to assemble his first sound system. He also bought his first microphone at the said store.

Nick Cannon will have an office at RadioShack's headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas and plans to be there as much as he can.
