The Nordic diet can lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels without losing weight, a study has found.

The Amazing Benefits of Nordic Diet

The University of Copenhagen research team, along with researchers from Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland, divided 200 participants into two groups and conducted the study for six months. One group was fed the Nordic diet while the other group was fed the regular diet.

Participants given the Nordic diet ate high amounts of whole grains such as rye, barley, and oats, as well as foods containing fish, fruits, and vegetables. The regular diet included low-fiber and cereal products, and all participants ate the same number of calories each day to maintain their weight during the study period.

As a result, those who ate the Nordic diet had lower levels of cholesterol and blood saturated and unsaturated fats compared to the control group.

These results are surprising because most people believe that weight loss is the only way to lower blood sugar and cholesterol.

The reason why the Nordic diet was so effective in lowering blood sugar and cholesterol levels was the fat contained in it which comes from fish, flaxseed, sunflower, and rapeseed.

The Nordic diet contains more Omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids than the regular diet.

Analysis of the participants' blood showed that those who benefited the most from the diet change had a different fat-soluble substance than the control group so it was a sign that it played the most important role in its blood sugar and cholesterol-lowering effect.

Aside from following the Nordic diet, you may also get your daily dose of Omega-3 fatty acids from supplements such as Schweitzz Omagen Gold. Before consuming Omega-3 supplements or other supplements, however, it is best to consult your healthcare provider especially when you are on medication.
