BLACKPINK Urges BLINKs To Support Great Causes Rather Than Giving Gifts To Members
As part of K-Pop's fan culture, idol groups often receive all kinds of gifts from their supporters. From a simple letter to the most luxurious items, fans spend money, time, and effort to give their idols
On October 12, however, BLINKs received the news that BLACKPINK will no longer accept gifts from fans.
"This year, BLACKPINK celebrated the fifth anniversary of their debut and, once again, the members received unparalleled congratulations from the fans. After carefully deliberating for a long time over the issue of the fan support and gifts that fans have poured their hearts into preparing all these years, we are delivering this difficult announcement," YG Entertainment explained.
BLACKPINK's agency YG Entertainment announced a new set of rules regarding "fan support" which will be implemented starting October 12 onwards.
"From now on, we would like to politely reject fan support and presents via post that you've [fans] been preparing with a loving heart and dedication on special anniversaries (group debut anniversary, solo debut anniversary, birthdays)/broadcast shows (music shows, radio, entertainment shows) and performances (snacks or donation flowers)" YG Entertainment announced.
Furthermore, the agency clarified that any mailed gifts, aside from fan letters, will either be returned or thrown away.
"Celebrations (group debut anniversary, solo debut anniversary, birthday)/presents via posts/express delivery except for fan letters can be returned or destroyed without notice, so please take this into consideration. We ask for your cooperation and understanding in this," YG Entertainment said.
The agency also encourages fans to celebrate BLACKPINK by supporting or helping indirect causes.
"It would be great if you could pass on the gifts and support to celebrate BLACKPINK's special occasion indirectly to those who need more help or for a great cause," YG Entertainment urged fans.
YG Entertainment asks fans for their continued support and love towards the BLACKPINK members Jennie, Lisa, Rose, and Jisoo.
"BLACKPINK promises to become an even greater artist with your love and support and meet you through various projects. We ask for your continued love and support," YG Entertainment said.
