TikTok Versus YouTube Shorts: Who Will Emerge as the Victor?

It's no secret that a majority of people use TikTok to showcase their talent or just to show off. To level the playing field, YouTube will pay $100 million to creators who will use YouTube Shorts until the next year. Its objective is to motivate creators to proceed and keep posting to its new service. It doesn't otherwise provide creators an integrated way to earn cash.

The amount that creators can gain remains a hanging question and still needs to be resolved. According to YouTube, it will connect with creators every month and will search for people with the highest engagement and views. There are possibly thousands of creators who could get paid each month. Basically, anyone can post on YouTube Shorts as long as their videos are original and should adhere to community guidelines.

YouTube Shorts was launched in the United States in March. The video clips appeared in YouTube's mobile app and similar to TikTok, a user can swipe from one to the next with an unlimited full-screen feed.

As YouTube explains it:

"Since Shorts is a new way to watch and create on YouTube, we've been taking a fresh look at what it means to monetize and reward creators for their content. We're introducing the YouTube Shorts Fund, a $100M fund distributed over the course of 2021-2022. Anyone is eligible to participate in the fund simply by creating unique Shorts that delight the YouTube community."

This move is going to be a huge boost for YouTube Shorts content. At the same time, it provides additional motivation for YouTube stars to post on YouTube Shorts rather than posting on TikTok.

YouTube will develop an ads infrastructure in addition to the current model to extend into that monetization accumulation. These initial payments will build interest and will possibly discourage users from using TikTok, Snapchat, or Instagram instead as they develop a more robust scheme around the program.
