‘School 2021’ Starring Kim Yo Han And Cho Yi Hyun Will Begin Filming In June
After numerous detours, filming of the highly anticipated drama "School 2021" will begin in June.
Initially based on the novel "Oh, My Men" by Munhak Dongne, "School 2021" was supposed to be called "School 2020" and was intended to air last year. Because of the delays due to casting and other factors, the drama's storyline was changed.
A source from the team behind "School 2021" will be a completely new story of its own and the characters will be different from the novel.
Ahn Seo Hyun was first offered the female lead role for "School 2020" but the actress and the production company could not come to an agreement. After Ahn Seo Hyun, "Hi! School - Love On" star Kim Sae Ron was offered the role but declined. This resulted in KBS dropping the drama.
Meanwhile, hopes for "School 2021" reappeared after it was reported that KBS2 is picking up the drama. The production team has also successfully cast rookie actress and "Hospital Playlist" star Cho Yi Hyun. On the other hand, "The Penthouse" rising star Kim Young Dae is currently in talks to join Cho Yi Hyun and WEi's Kim Yo Han in "School 2021."
Fans are looking forward to Kim Yo Han's role in "School 2021" after his starring in the successful Korean remake of "A Love So Beautiful" as the male lead Cha Heon.
"School 2021" will be directed by Han Sang Woo who also worked on various KBS2 dramas including "Man From the Equator (2012)," "Naeil's Cantabile (2014)," "Black Knight: The Man Who Guards Me (2017)," and "My Lawyer, Mr. Joe 2: Crime and Punishment (2019)."
The drama is expected to wrap up casting soon and begin filming in June. "School 2021" is expected to air in KBS2 by the end of the year. It is the eighth installation of KBS2's "School Series" which began with "School 1" in 1999.
