LABOUM

LABOUM debuted in 2014 under NH Media and Nega Network as the sister group of U-KISS and Brown Eyed Girls. In August 2014, Laboum released their debut single "Pit-A-Pat," which is written by hitmaker Seo Ji Eum who is the brain behind TaeTiSeo's "Twinkle" and f(x)'s "Electric Shock."

In 2016, LABOUM started a crowdfunding campaign for the music video of their upcoming comeback album "Fresh Adventure." The campaign raised $27,832, and fans got to enjoy the dreamy music video for "Journey to Atlantis."

Now, five years after the release of "Journey to Atlantis," it skyrocketed to popularity and soared to the top spot in South Korea's real-time music charts.

Why LABOUM's "Journey To Atlantis" Suddenly Hit No.1 In Music Charts?

The sudden popularity of LABOUM's 2016 song was due to a recent episode of MBC's "How Do You Play." On May 8th, Yoo Jae Suk guested his newest project boy group, MSG Wannabe, on the show. In the episode, the variety show star asked the project boy group to sing LABOUM's 2016 song "Journey to Atlantis" after describing it as a song that he personally likes.

Due to this, LABOUM's "Journey to Atlantis" began to rise rapidly on South Korea's real-time music charts. According to reports, by 4:00 PM KST on May 9th, LABOUM's 2016 song hit the top spot on Bugs beating Brave Girls' "We Ride," "Rollin'," as well as ITZY's "MAFIA In The Morning." "Journey to Atlantis" also became the most popular keyword of the day on MelOn. Furthermore, the song also reached No.7 on Genie.

If LABOUM can manage to maintain the sudden spike in popularity, then there's the huge opportunity to hit it big 7 years after their debut.

But the question is, can LABOUM be the next Brave Girls? Well, only time will tell. Congratulations to the girls of LABOUM. Stay tuned for more updates.
