On May 5th of every year, South Korea celebrates "Children's day."

Why South Korea celebrates "Children's Day"?

"Children's Day" in South Korea is a public day intended for parents to take a day off and have the opportunity to spend time with their children. It is celebrated every May 5th as "5/5" is easy for everyone to remember and became a public holiday in the 1970s.

During this day, parents take their kids to amusement parks, zoos and even go out for picnics.

J-Hope and Suzy donates to children in need

Not every child has the opportunity to spend quality time with their parents on this special day, and because of this, some of South Korea's top stars preferred to donate to good causes.

One of the kind-hearted angels is A-list actress Suzy. According to her label, Management SOOP, the "Start-Up" star donated 100 million KRW (approximately $89,200 USD) to help children in orphanages and even young adults who are no longer protected by child welfare institutions in the county.

"Suzy donated 100 million Won to the Happy Sharing Taekwondo Federation in light of Children's Day," Suzy's Management SOOP revealed.

On the other hand, global superstar and BTS member J-Hope celebrated "Children's Day" by donating to ChildFund Korea. The child development organization shared that the "Chicken Noodle Soup" singer donated 100 million KRW (approximately $89,200 USD) to support children exposed to violence in Tanzania. Furthermore, the organization revealed that J-Hope's donation would be used to fun a new One-Stop Center in Tanzania that provides medical treatment, legal support, counseling, and assistance to children who are victims of violence.

When asked about why he decided to support children in Tanzania, BTS member J-Hope commented that he also wants to reach out to overseas children as many people worldwide are suffering because of the pandemic.

Suzy and J-Hope are such kind-hearted angels indeed!
