BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ Earns Double Platinum In US

BTS reached another milestone as their megahit song "Dynamite" reached double platinum-certified single in the western country United States. This is the latest of the K- pop idol's record-breaking streak.

On Wednesday, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) had announced that the group's "Dynamite," their digital single that was released in August, earned double platinum.

According to RIAA, a song will get this platinum certification if it will have at least 1 million equivalent units, which includes sales, streams, and downloads. Also, a double-platinum certification will be awarded to songs that reached at least 2 million units.

Aside from this double platinum, BTS also acquired RIAA's five platinum certifications. This is the most number for a Korean pop act. The certifications include albums "Map of the Soul: 7 and "Love Yourself: Answer," as well as their singles "Idol," "Mic Drop," and the single "Boy With Luv," where they featured Halsey.

"Dynamite" had been receiving historic recognitions such as the first song by a K-pop act that debuted at Billboard's main single charts at No. 1 and received their first Grammy nomination in the category of best pop duo/group.

The group also received many international awards, such as being hailed as the "Global Recording Artist of 2020" by the award-giving body International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, TIME's "Entertainer of the Year," and "2020 Music Innovator" that was awarded by the Wall Street Journal.

BTS also performed the iconic song "Dynamite" during the awarding of the 63rd Grammy Awards earlier this week in Los Angeles. They became the first Korean Pop act that performed on the stage as a nominee on the most coveted music awards.

Just recently, the group also received another Guinness World Records title after recording three wins at the 34th Annual Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards last week.
