The two K-pop "Mega-groups" set new records as they earn silver and gold in the recent release of Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) certifications for October 2020.

After earning two silver certifications for the Korean version of "TT" and their recent Japanese release of "Fanfare," TWICE is officially the Korean group with the highest RIAJ Certifications.

Previously, the JYP Entertainment girl group has received two gold certifications for their hits "Feel Special" and "FANCY." The 9-membered girl group has also garnered eight official silver RIAJ certifications. These certifications are for the Japanese version of "TT," as well as their other hit releases such as "YES or YES," "What Is Love?", "Likey," "MORE & MORE," "Dance the Night Away," and "Heart Shaker."

Meanwhile, the Big Hit supergroup BTS, has set the record for the fastest song by a Korean artist ever to achieve official gold certification from the RIAJ for their 2020 hit "Dynamite." After "Boy With Luv," this is BTS' second song to earn a gold RIAJ certification.

In addition to "DNA," "Fake Love," "Lights," and "Stay Gold," the 7-membered boy group has also received silver certification for their 2018 title track "IDOL" after surpassing 30 million streams.

Since April 2020, the RIAJ has released certifications for the online streaming of songs according to a newly established system as an addition to its pre-existing certification systems for physical album shipments and digital download sales. Based on the new system, songs are certified silver once they reached 30 million minimum cumulative number of streams, gold at 50 million streams, platinum at 100 million streams, and diamond at 500 million streams as calculated by the Association based on the data provided by GfK Japan (GfK Insight Japan Co., Ltd.).

On the other hand, the legendary YG Entertainment group BIGBANG has also earned their very first RIAJ streaming certification with their 2015 hit "BANG BANG BANG."
