BTS Makes Another History At The 2019 Billboard Music Awards + Halsey Finally Look At Jimin's Eyes
BTS and their legion of fans are celebrating as the K-pop group made another history at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. BTS took home their first ever Top Duo/Group award, making them the first ever Korean group to do so.
The septet came out as victor against the other nominees in the category such as Dan + Shay, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, and Panic! At the Disco. Speaking on behalf of bandmates, group leader RM thanked their ARMYs for making the award possible for them.
"Thank you, ARMY! Thank you, Billboard Music Awards. I still can't believe that we're here on this stage with so many great artists. This was only possible because of the little things we share together, the BTS and ARMY power.
We're still the same boys from six years ago. We still have the same dreams, we still have the same fears, we will have the same thoughts. Let's keep dreaming of the best dreams together. Thank you, I love you all," RM said.
BTS also won the Top Social Artist award for three years in a row. Other nominees in the category this year were their fellow K-pop group EXO and GOT7, Ariana Grande, and One Direction's Louis Tomlinson. On top of the two awards, the "Idol" singers also performed their latest hit song "Boy With Luv" with Halsey at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The performance was one of the most awaited stages of the night. BTS ARMYs were thrilled to see that Halsey finally made eye contact with Jimin.
In the "Boy With Luv" music video, it can be noticed that the American singer avoided the gaze of Jimin. In an interview with SiriusXM, Jimin revealed that during the filming of the MV, he kept on telling Halsey to look at him. Then RM added Halsey never look at Jimin.
A Twitter user shared the clip of Jimin and RM telling the story and Halsey responded to the tweet. The singer admitted that she can't look at Jimin because she is too nervous at the time. She explained that she is nervous because it was her first time to dance in an MV.
Hashtags #BTSTopGroup, #BTSOne, and #Halsey have been trending worldwide on Twitter during the BBMAs. Tons of photos, videos, and memes of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook were shared on Twitters as well.
Meanwhile, ARMYs all over the world celebrate the group's latest achievement. Many fans shared on Twitter the clip of the boys' shocked reaction when the winner for Top Duo/Group was announced by This Is Us stars Chrissy Metz and Justin Hartley.
Some put the video side by side with BTS's footage when they won their first-ever Album Of The Year Award at the Melon Music Awards back in 2016. Others shared the group photo of BTS when they debut in 2013 and their picture holding two trophies from the 2019 BBMAs.
