K-Pop Female Group IZ*ONE To Make First Comeback In April
The 12 members of K-pop female group IZ*ONE are now preparing for their first comeback since their successful debut in October 2018. Reports indicate that the group is set to release new songs in April.
IZ*ONE was formed through the Mnet reality competition show Produce 48. The group is composed of South Korean and Japanese members.
Eun Bi, Sakura, Hye Won, Ye Na, Chae Yeon, Chae Won, Min Joo, Nako Yabuki, Hitomi, Yu Ri, Yu Jin, Won Young are set to make their first comeback after their debut in October with their first-ever extended play, titled Color*Iz, and its lead track "La Vie en Rose." The album set a new record for the highest number of albums sold on the first day for a girl group's debut album release.
It was a huge 2018 for the IZ*ONE. Apart from a hit album, the group also took home five Rookie of the Year awards from different year-end awards shows including the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).
Earlier this month, IZ*ONE made their official Japanese debut with "Suki to Iwasetai." The song immediately climbed on top of the Oricon Daily Single Chart and managed to beat out popular Japanese boy group Kis-My-Ft2. The single also reached the No. 1 spot on iTunes J-pop charts in five different countries.
Moreover, IZ*ONE also broke the first-day sales record for a single released by a K-pop girl group in Japan. The record was previously held by TWICE's "Wake Me Up." The 12-member group also achieved the second-highest first-day sales of any girl group debut in Japan-trailing only the famous Japanese girl group HKT48.
The group recently performed at TV Asahi's Music Station. IZ*ONE will return in the country in April as they will be joining the lineup of artists for the KBS 2TV's Immortal Songs special edition in Japan. Apparently, the show will hold its first concert abroad for its 400th episode.
Immortal Songs has two episodes scheduled on April 4. IZ*ONE will be on the first episode which will be the performances of junior artists for Kim Yeon Ja, who is known for her hit song "Amor Fati."
The second episode will be a special of K-pop songs that are most popular among Japanese fans. The artists that are set to perform for the second episode are NCT Dream, Ali, Gummy, Jung Dong Hwa, Kim Jae Hwan, and JBJ95.
