'The Last Empress' Episodes 35 & 36 Spoilers: Emperor Lee Hyuk Vows To Defend Empress Oh Sunny From His Mother

Emperor Lee Hyuk will continue to pursue Empress Sunny despite the latter clearly detest his presence. In the upcoming The Last Empress Episodes 35 and 36, the Emperor will clash once again with his mother because of his change of heart about Sunny.

In the previous episode, Emperor Lee Hyuk (Shin Sung Rok) is doing everything to win the heart of his wife. He punished his mother's royal servant, Ms. Choi, when the latter exchanged Sunny's (Jang Na Ra) cookies for Princess Ari (Oh Ah Rin) with some treats that are laced with peanut. The emperor also demanded Empress Dowager Kang (Shin Eun Kyung) to apologized to Sunny for blaming the latter about the cookies that made the young Princess sick.

He also forced his mother to return the Empress' sapphire necklace. The Emperor also managed to convince Sunny to go on a date with him.

In the upcoming episodes, Lee Hyuk tells his mother that he will not give up Sunny even if the latter continue to hate him. This will make Empress Dowager more furious of Sunny. She will again lay out another plan to ruin Sunny's reputation and kick her out of the palace but Lee Hyuk is standing her way.

Meanwhile, Empress Dowager Kang and Byun Baek Ho (Kim Myung Soo), the father of late Empress Sohyun, will have an intense confrontation in the upcoming episode. In the preview for The Last Empress Episodes 35 and 36, Empress Dowager tells Byun that she has nothing to do with Empress Sohyun's death. This will make Byun angry and grabs the Empress Dowager by her collar.

In the previous episodes of the SBS K-drama, Byun showed up at the palace while Empress Dowager is having a book club for The Last Mrs. Spencer book. She invited Sunny's sister, Oh Hel Ro (Stephanie Lee), in the event as well as the editor in chief of the publishing company. Empress Dowager's intent is to expose Hel Ro's secret that she is not the real author of the book.

However, before the invited members of the press are able to ask more questions to Hel Ro about the book, Sunny asked the Emperor to read a page in the book. While reading, Lee Hyuk is shocked to realize that the details of his first wife's death were written in the novel.

Then, Byun appeared. He asks Emperor Lee Hyuk and Empress Dowager whether or not the details of how Mrs. Spencer died in the book is the same way his daughter is killed. He also asks the imperial family on who killed So Hyun.

Elsewhere, it looks like Min Yoo Ra (Lee Elijah) will find her son, Dong Shik, again. The child is seen in the teaser crying while talking to a woman. Meanwhile, Sunny tells Chun Woo Bin not to meet Dong Shik by himself. The Last Empress airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 10 p.m. KST.
