'SKY Castle' Seeks To Punish The People Responsible In Script Leak; Confirms Taking Legal Action

SKY Castle is taking legal action against those who leaked and has been sharing the script of the top-rated K-drama. The series' production team assured that anyone who found guilty of leaking the script will be punished.

The production team of SKY Castle has announced that they are officially submitting a request for a police investigation regarding the illegal circulation of their script. The announcement was made a day after the producers of SKY Castle have confirmed that the scripts for Episodes 17 and 18 have been leaked.

The show stressed that the leak and illegal sharing of the script violate the copyright of the writer. Additionally, it also affects the enthusiasm of the viewers who are patiently waiting for the broadcast of the upcoming episodes. The show also warned the netizens to refrain from leaking the content any further.

"The SKY Castle production team is submitting a request to the police cybercrime investigation unit, and after thorough investigation of the source of the leak as well as those who circulated it, we will strictly hold them to criminal and civil liabilities," the team said in a statement.

With only 4 episodes left before the finale, it is not surprising that the anticipation of how the series will end is very high. Currently, SKY Castle holds the highest ever viewership ratings in JTBC's history. It is also on top of the buzzworthy K-dramas for the fifth consecutive week.

Its most recent episode recorded the highest viewership rating so far. Episode 16 scored an average rating of 21.01 percent in Seoul metropolitan area and 19.24 percent nationwide, surpassing its previous record from the night before.

In a report that Good Data Corporation released this week, SKY Castle is No. 1 in buzzworthy K-drama list with 31.78 percent of votes from viewers. Following in far second place is The Last Empress with 12.91 percent and tvN's Memories of the Alhambra at 10.23 percent. Cast member Kim Bo Ra also topped the list of the most buzzworthy cast members.

SKY Castle is a black-comedy K-drama that tells the story of a group of privileged and ambitious women as they strive to further the careers of their husbands and ensure the success of their children at any cost necessary.

SKY Castle airs on Fridays and Saturdays on JTBC. The leaked Episodes 17 and 18 are scheduled to air on January 18 and 19, respectively, at 11 p.m. KST.
