Fans might not be the only ones hoping for Iron Man 4. Robert Downey Jr. has already made it clear that he is still open to reprising his role as Tony Stark in yet another standalone film focusing on the comic book hero. The Sherlock Holmes 3 star even went as far as teasing the possible new title for the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick and a future collaboration with Chris Evans' Captain America.

Robert Downey Jr. certainly loves his character and has embraced everything remotely related to the Marvel superhero. Although the Avengers: Infinity War actor usually chooses to play coy with the possibility of Iron Man 4 happening in the future, Downey simply could not resist sharing an image that might reveal flashy new suits for Tony Stark and Captain America in the sequel.

Robert Downey Jr. recently shared an interesting photo on his official Facebook page with an interesting caption. "Iron Man 4: Hello Kitty?" the Sherlock Holmes 3 actor wrote. The picture features Iron Man and Captain America donning shocking suits undoubtedly inspired by the feline icon. The two heroes are even joined by an appropriately-sized Wolverine, a moody Thor and what appears to be DC comic book hero The Flash.

The post is undoubtedly a joke that only Robert Downey Jr. can pull off yet fans still commented about the possibility of Iron Man 4. One comment begged the Avengers 4 actor to seriously consider returning as Tony Stark in more MCU movies. However, Marvel Studios has yet to announce whether Downey will be back after the fourth Avengers film.

Although it is still unclear whether Robert Downey Jr. will be back for Iron Man 4, Tony Stark is set for major changes in Avengers 4. Gwyneth Paltrow recently revealed that Tony and Pepper Potts could end up having a child in the highly anticipated MCU flick. The news immediately had people wondering whether Downey's character will decide to retire as the superhero so he can finally focus on raising a family with Pepper.

Robert Downey Jr. might not yet be confirmed for Iron Man 4, but that doesn't mean the actor will not be busy in the next few years. He will return as Tony Stark in Avengers 4, which premieres on May 6, 2019. Downey will then be back as the titular detective in the still-untitled Sherlock Holmes 3 on December 25, 2020.
