Fans might see a major time jump in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode 9 movie. In an interview with John Boyega, who plays the role of Finn, the 26-year-old star teased two major things that may happen in the much-awaited film.

"I can't wait to start shooting the next and final leg of the franchise," John Boyega told UK Finance. This surprised everyone as the Pacific Rim Uprising star mentioned the franchise's end. It has been known that Star Wars: Episode 9 will be the end of the sequel trilogy that started with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In fact, in an earlier interview with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, per Slash Film, she said they are looking at Star Wars: Episode 9's narrative to see if its story could lead to creating future tales that surround Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe (Oscar Isaac), Finn, and BB-8. So, it looks like John Boyega's statement just implies that the sequel trilogy's ending.

In the continuation of John Boyega's interview, he also revealed the first step he is going to do for Star Wars: Episode 9's filming is to grow out his hair. "So, you can wait for the trailer to see why," he added.

This will be the first time Finn is going to be seen with a longer mane. As fans last saw him with a shorter hair in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it looks like there will be a major time jump happening in the sequel's trilogy's final installment.

There are reports that Star Wars: Episode 9 is going to stick to the franchise's traditional way of storytelling, which lets numbers of years pass by between movies. So, there might be a big possibility that J.J. Abrams is going to return to the movie's original style.

If truth be told, according to Digital Spy, J.J. Abrams has a lot of loose ends to deal with in Star Wars: Episode 9. This includes Princess Leia's absence with the unexpected death of Carrie Fisher. To recall, Kathleen Kennedy revealed that Lucasfilm is not going to use CGI to bring the Resistance's general back to life in the movie.

Also, Star Wars: Episode 9's major time jump could feature a more mature Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) who could lead the First Order much better. This will allow Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and General Leia Organa's son to be in line with the Star Wars major villains like Darth Vader and Darth Sidious.

Fans should just take these assumptions with a grain of salt as Lucasfilm has yet to reveal Star Wars: Episode 9's official plotline. However, knowing that Star Wars movies are bound to secrecy, it looks like fans have to wait and see the movie on the big screen in December 2019.
