'Chicago Fire' Season 6 Episode 21 Spoilers: Severide's Ex-Lover Is Back In Town; Stella Is Threatened
Renée Royce is back in town, a couple of years after her bitter split with Lt. Kelly Severide. Actress Sarah Shahi is reprising her role in Chicago Fire as the former girlfriend of Taylor Kinney's character, but she has another motive for coming back.
Shahi is returning in this week's episode of Chicago Fire Season 6, titled "The Unrivaled Standard." Renée will bring more drama to the firehouse, especially now that her ex-beau has been dating Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo). Stella is about to meet the woman that her boyfriend almost married.
In the Episode 21 trailer, Severide is shocked when Renée, an international finance lawyer, appeared at the Chicago Fire Department. Severide never expected that he will ever see her again, while Stella will not be okay having Renée around. Severide and Stella's relationship is still new but is already on the rocks. Having someone that reminds Severide of his past might add to the tension between the couple.
Stella still feels bad that her boyfriend did not tell his mother, Jennifer (Kim Delaney), that they are together. Spoilers indicate that Stella's anger with Severide will lead her to accept Hermann's offer (David Eigenberg) about his spare apartment. But, Stella will soon regret her decision now that Severide's ex-lover is in town.
Apparently, Renée will visit the firehouse because she needs Severide's help. She will ask for her former lover's expertise for a case that she is working on. Renée, however, has an ulterior motive for approaching Severide. She wants him back.
A quick backstory of Renée Royce in Chicago Fire
She first appeared in Season 1 when she got involved in a car accident, and Severide saved her life. The couple's relationship was doing great until the lawyer accepted a promotion and moved to Spain. At first, Severide wanted to join Renée, but his father made him realized that he would regret giving up his dreams of becoming a firefighter.
Renée came back in the Season 1 finale when she claimed that she is pregnant with Severide's child. The two moved in together in the first part of Season 2. However, it was later revealed that the child is not Severide's when the child's birth did not match the time they were together.
A paternity test further proved that Severide is not the father of Renee's baby. It turned out Renee had a one-night stand when she arrived in Madrid. The couple eventually split, and now, Renee is back in town.
Shahi will appear in at least three episodes this season. Chicago Fire Season 6 Episode 21 will air on Thursday at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
