Blackpink Update: 'Boombayah' Singers To Hold Japanese Arena Tour
Aside from their much-awaited return, Blackpink will be holding their first ever concert tour in Japan. After debuting in the country after a year, the "Boombayah" singers will return for Black Pink Arena Tour 2018. The news was confirmed on Tuesday, March 27.
Blackpink will have a total of six Japanese Arena tours that will start on July 24 and 25 at Osaka-jo Hall. It will be followed by a Fukuoka concert at Fukuoka Kokusai Center on August 16 and 17, and at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on August 25 and 26. According to All Kpop, Black Pink Arena Tour 2018 is expected to be attended by 66,000 fans.
"BLACKPINK took off as a top K-pop girl group in Japan even before they reached their first debut anniversary in Japan," YG Entertainment said in a statement, via Soompi. As this will be the first time that Blackpink will be performing in front of their Japanese fans, the music label is expecting that they will receive a lot of attention.
To recall, Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé made their Japanese debut in July 2017. The group had sold out a whopping 15,000 tickets and even got the number one spot on the Oricon Charts with their first self-titled album.
Meanwhile, Blackpink is also preparing for their much-awaited comeback in Korea this year. In fact, YG Entertainment CEO, Yang Hyun-suk, teased that the girls just finished recording their new upcoming album.
In a post on his Instagram account, Papa YG hinted that Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé are about to release new music. The 48-year-old music executive shared a pink photo and used hashtags as his caption. He mentioned Blackpink was finally done recording their new songs and ready for their return to the spotlight. He even teased that the much-awaited return is about to happen soon.
Yang Hyunsuk also revealed that Blackpink will be one of YG Entertainment's three groups that will release new songs this 2018, Manila Bulletin reported. The other two groups are iKON and Winner. It was in June 2017 when Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé last released music with "As If It's Your Last." The group is also busy filming their reality series on YouTube called Black Pink House.
