K-pop singer Sunmi did not shy away from sharing her opinion about the scandal and controversies that some Korean celebrities are going through today. She believes that female artists are tougher than their male counterparts when it comes to dealing with these kinds of challenges.

Sunmi said female celebrities tend to be more affected by scandals and backlash from netizens but they are stronger in dealing with situations like these. The "Heroine" singer, however, admitted that she gets angry when she hears derogatory remarks against female celebrities or sexual harassment scandal involving her colleagues.

"Female celebrities are more affected by dating news and scandals. You can just tell from the comments on how it's different from male celebrities. Words of defamation to sexual harassment... I want to be nonchalant about them but I get so angry nowadays," she told Dazed magazine (via AllKPop).

Sunmi graces the March cover of the magazine. She is seen in the cover sporting a Burberry t-shirt and a sheer skirt. It is captioned "I'm Not So Hot," which could be in reference to "So Hot" single of Sunmi's former group Wonder Girls.

Sunmi on Spring University Festivals' Events

South Korea's entertainment company Mersenne revealed that female Korean artists are still the most sought-after acts for various events slated for the upcoming spring university festivals. Topping the list is Sunmi along with MAMAMOO, Heize, and Kim Chung Ha.

Mersenne conducted a survey to eight agencies on festival planning and hosting about the Korean acts that most requested to perform at spring festival events. Aside from the Top 4 most-sought after K-pop artists, Momoland, Oh My Girl, and Lovelyz were also named as the top most popular girl groups. The most-requested male artists, on the other hand, are Psy, Dynamic Duo, Dok2, WINNER, and iKON.

It is not surprising that Sunmi is one of the most-sought-after acts for spring university festivals. She has been a member of now disbanded K-pop group Wonder Girls for quite a while before she left the group in 2010 to go back to school. Many were pleased when she returned on stage in 2013 and launched her solo career as well as debut her single "24 Hours."

Fans celebrate when she rejoined Wonder Girls in 2015. However, the girl group disbanded two years later. It did not stop Sunmi from singing and in August 2017, she released her single "Gashina." It was followed by "Heroine" earlier this year.
