‘The Big Bang Theory’ Showrunner Hints Sheldon and Amy Could Marry in Season 11 Finale
The long wait for Sheldon and Amy's wedding could finally end in The Big Bang Theory Season 11 finale. TBBT showrunner Steve Holland has hinted that Amy could walk down the aisle at the conclusion of this season.
The Big Bang Theory executives would not like to keep their viewers waiting for the big day of Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik). It's been almost a season since Sheldon proposed to Amy. Ever since Sheldon goes down on his knees, the two have been planning for their nuptials and this could finally be happening by the end of Season 11. Holland, however, admitted that finale episode of Season 11 has yet to be written.
"I think you will see a wedding [this season]. We haven't written the finale yet, but we've certainly been building to it all season," Holland teased in an interview with TVLine.
TBBT fans have known that the show usually has a huge story in the premiere of the season, during mid-season finale, and in the actual season finale. Only the latter hasn't air as of yet. So most likely the big wedding will be happening in the finale.
Clues That Sheldon and Amy Are Getting Married
Sheldon and Amy almost tied the knot in the episode titled "The Confidence Erosion" back in December. The couple went to City Hall for a quick civil wedding ceremony. However, Sheldon realized that there are wedding traditions such as the first dance that he doesn't want to miss out on. The brainy couple then decided to hold off their impromptu wedding.
If the Sheldon-Amy wedding, or least close to that, is happening at the end of Season 11, this is not the first time. It can be recalled that in Season 8 finale, Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard elope to Las Vegas to get married. In the premiere of the following season, they got married while their friends were watching via Skype.
Another spoiler for the Sheldon-Amy nuptial is the upcoming episode of Season 11. The couple will allegedly announce their wedding date in this episode. Although it was not mentioned in the official synopsis of the episode, fans who watched the taping of Episode 17 revealed that the couple finally decided on their wedding date. Apparently, the two will inform their friends that they already have their save-the-wedding-date cards.
Aside from Holland's words and the upcoming episode, there is another clue that points to the highly-anticipated nuptials. Earlier this year, co-star Johnny Galecki (Leonard) said the cast would be "comfortable" with TBBT ending after Season 12. This means everyone will have a happy ending in Season 12. Amy and Sheldon could get married by the end of Season 11 and have the whole Season 12 as husband and wife and possibly a child too.
Meanwhile, Episode 17 will also feature Bernadette as she is about to deliver her second baby with husband Howard. The Big Bang Theory Season 10 will return on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
