Since the departure of Chester Bennington from the American rock band, members Dean and Robert DeLeo, and Eric Kretz are once again looking for a new Stone Temple Pilots vocalist to join the band as reported by Daily Times Entertainment.

Bennington initially joined the band in 2013 as a special guest performer for their live shows. Eventually, he was confirmed to be the new Stone Temple Pilots vocalist in the same year, replacing Scott Weiland as the latter has been dismissed from the band in favor of his solo tour as well as issues with substance abuse.

However, Bennington had to leave the band in order to focus more on his family and his other band, Linkin Park, where he serves as its main vocalist since their formation in 1996. He and the band split in good terms, with the remaining members cited that they had "amazing and beautiful years" together. This was confirmed on Monday, Nov. 9.

Rumor has it that guitarist Dean DeLeo already contacted a replacement for Stone Temple Pilots vocalist post. Highly-suspect vocalist Johnny Stevens revealed on his Twitter account that DeLeo called him last August, asking him to join the band. However, he said no and he wasn't joking about the incident, according to Ultimate Guitar.

Meanwhile, the band teamed up with English soul singer Joss Stone for a special performance in Jimmy Kimmel's "Mash-Up Mondays" series on his talk show. They played a rendition of "Interstate Love Song" which was originally from the band 1994 as reported by NME.

Stone Temple Pilots was formed in 1985, and they released their debut album "Core" in 1992. The album was a big success in the alternative rock scene which led them to gain more following over the years until their disbandment ten years later. They reunited in 2008, however they fired the original vocalist Weiland in 2013 and later on Bennington took over.

At present, the band is working on new music and might go on a temporary hiatus.
